Top Cookbooks'
review: 150 Best Tagine Recipes is an interesting cookbook, which covers not only what a tagine is and how to use one, but also different types of tagines, and some of the history of the pot. I especially enjoyed the section in the front, which talks about North African cuisine and native foods. It was interesting to learn more about herbs from the area, and some of their uses. While this information can also be found in many other books dedicated to the subject of culinary herbs, it is always nice to have handy a history and description of ingredients you will be using in recipes. The recipes in this book are as attractive as they are healthy. In one recipe, pomegranates are mixed with green beans and other ingredients to make a beautiful, and nutrient-rich side dish. While cooking in a cone-shaped clay pot may not be practical for most of us on a regular basis, it's a fun way to experience the ancient culinary techniques used in the North African region for centuries. I would recommend this cook book for anyone who wants to prepare good, wholesome, culturally inspired foods. -Elaine Russo, TopCookbooks.com |
