Top Cookbooks .com cook book review:
The Good Stuff Cookbook is one book that I would hurry out and buy.  The recipes and stories have a welcoming, down-to-earth feel. The ingredients are simple, the instruction is great, and the dedications are heartfelt.

I really enjoyed reading the stories behind the recipes in this book.  For instance, Spike names Michelle's Melt (one of his burger recipes) after the first lady, who was a customer of his restaurant in Washington, D.C.  He shares his family and staff's reaction to the event.

There are some really outstanding palette teasers in Spike's new cookbook. While the burgers, fries, and other goodies are absolutely scrumptious, it's the "shake" section that deserves a blue ribbon award.  One milkshake recipe calls for chocolate covered cherries, while another one is made with fresh avocados!  Ever crave a peanut butter and jelly shake?  There's a recipe for it in this book!

I would recommend The Good Stuff Cookbook: Burgers, Fries, Shakes, Wedges, and More to anyone who loves a great meal.  If you're vegetarian, then a soy burger substitute is in order, but even the most health conscious of us need to have some great "fun food" recipes on hand sometimes.

I give this book 4 spatulas.   We look forward to visiting The Good Stuff Eatery very soon.

Free Recipe for Bananas Foster Shake (serves 4)

No-brainer.  You can omit the rum, but it adds a pleasant kick and it tastes delicious.

1 tablespoon butter
4 bananas, sliced into 1/2-inch thick circles
1 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 cup dark rum
2 cups crushed vanilla wafers
2 cups creamy vanilla ice cream
1 cup whole milk Whipped Cream (page 178)

Heat the butter in a skillet over high heat.  Add the bananas and brown sugar and cook, turning occasionally, just until the edges of the bananas begin to burn, about 4 minutes.  Add the rum and stir.  Transfer to a blender, add the wafers, ice cream, and milk, and blend until smooth, about 30 seconds.  Pour into four 8-ounce glasses.  Garnish each with a dollop of whipped cream.

In The Good Stuff Cookbook, he serves up fast, fun, and fresh recipes for classic fare like burgers, sides, shakes, and desserts, as well as menu suggestions for all types of events, from big parties to casual family dinners.

You'll find old favorites with a twist: unique and tasty sauces and mayonnaises like Good Stuff Sauce and Curry Mayonnaise; fan-favorite sides like Baked Sweet Potato Fries and Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus; the famous Toasted Marshmallow Milkshake, malts, and floats; and, of course, Chef Spike's crowd-pleasing burgers made with beef, turkey, chicken, pork, and even lamb.

Just in time for Independence Day barbecues and summertime cookouts, The Good Stuff Cookbook offers a fresh and inventive take on classic American food.
